The year of Heifers.

I pray I don't jinx this, but so far we are 100% heifers with four of four calves so far heifers. This is unprecedented for us as up to this we have gotten one or two heifers each year and overloads of steers. But starting off with a set of twin heifers followed by two more we are excited. There are several cows due before we break for summer to our fall calving so we shall see if this streak holds up.
I wonder about the reason and know the bull has a lot to do with it. These are nice looking heifers with great profiles so looking forward to the kids being able to show them. I had one lady tell me it was the PH of the water. That I potentially could change that by adding apple cider vinegar to the water. Not a realistic option with cows on several different pieces and automatic waterers. I did add copper to the water troughs but that was to see if it helped with the algae, could not see any great difference to the algae. However, all heifers this year seem a great swap.

We promised to price all calves born this year as we have grown our herd to the size we believe we want to maintain for now. We look to hold around 14 females. This means with heifers coming we may part with some of the older cows that make such amazing immediate pasture statements. If your looking to start a herd we can set you up with a few of our matriarchs, exposed to one of our bulls, a few heifers and a bull. We have some of the heifers that we really want to keep for their genetic potential to improve our herd so their price is adjusted as such. We also have heifers from multi grand champion cows that are very small so they are priced as such as well.
These three are from previous years so not for sale currently as my kids are showing them. But ask as their dams may be available.
